I’ve discovered Films For Action, a website that:
“[…] uses the power of film to raise awareness of important social, environmental, and media-related issues not covered by the mainstream news. Our goal is to provide citizens with the information and perspectives essential to creating a more just, sustainable, and democratic society.
Our website has cataloged over 900 of the best films and videos that can be watched free online. (FilmsForAction)
As pointed out on their site, six multi-national corporations dominate 90 percent of the media that we see, read, and hear. This is kinda chilling, eh? Do we really think that News Corporation, Disney, Time Warner, Viacom, and the like are REALLY serving “the public’s interest and act as a watchdog for corporate and government abuse”?
In addition to videos, Films for Action has great articles like “The Top 10 Documentaries From 2011 That Could Change The World.”
The site lists documentaries, presentations, short films, trailers and videos by subject, and include a diverse list of topics: Activism, Animal Rights, Big Ideas, Globalization Human Rights, Philosophy, Social Issues, and more and more and more! And guess what? Contributors can ADD content! Videos, articles, news, events, etc…
I can’t wait to dive in and it makes me jealous of all of my peoples who have GOOD internet! Y’all enjoy the videos enough for the both of us, and think of me. I absolutely AM going to add some of my articles.
